Local Commerce, Delivered

Platforms like Wolt make it easy to shop locally online by connecting customers with nearby businesses and the couriers who deliver their orders.

To better understand the impact on local communities, we surveyed merchants and consumers in partnership with leading European research companies Copenhagen Economics and Taloustutkimus. This report combines those results with Wolt’s own analysis of global data from across the company’s operating markets.

Future

Platforms like Wolt are becoming increasingly important to local businesses, and we’re working hard on multiple fronts to offer an even better service in the future.

Strengthening the merchant voice
We want to ensure partners’ voices are heard and reflected in our decisions. In addition to regular Net Promoter Score surveys, we’ve introduced two new forums – the Merchant Advisory Council, a small group of merchants who meet with us regularly to share feedback and ideas, and Merchant Panel, a broader group of partners who participate in surveys and interviews to help shape the Wolt experience.

Improving our services and tools
Merchant feedback is central to how we improve, as our merchant-focused teams are constantly developing services and tools that support business growth and daily operations. These include solutions for in-store management, advertising, and even access to additional business funding.

Advocating for local businesses
Local businesses are the backbone of local economies, and we believe their needs should be heard by policymakers. We’re committed to fostering dialogue and helping to create solutions that benefit both communities and commerce, for example, by bringing merchants directly to the heart of the EU to engage firsthand with policymakers.

About the report

Survey analysis was carried out between December 2024 and May 2025 in partnership with Copenhagen Economics, one of Europe’s leading economics firms, and Finnish market research company Taloustutkimus. The report combines these survey results with Wolt’s own analysis of global data from across our operating markets.

Surveys were conducted in the following countries: Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden.

We received more than 7,000 responses – from 2413 merchants and 4624 customers. The merchant survey targeted non-enterprise businesses who had been on the platform for longer than 3 months and registered sales in the past month. The consumer survey targeted a sample of those who had made a purchase in the last 60 days.

* Indicates the statistic is based on Wolt’s own analysis of global data from across the company’s operating markets. In the consumer insights section, active customers are defined as those who made at least 1 purchase within Q1 2025.
